Finally, a cool neighborhood bar I can walk to! The Mar Vista/Del Rey area desperately needed a place like this. Technically, it is on the tenticle of Culver City that runs down Washington Blvd to Costco, but I imagine it serves more people from the bordering LA neighborhoods than from Culver City.
If you're into dive bars, then you'll really miss the old Alibi Room. This new one is much more hip and seems popular with the 30 and 40 somethings. The triangular bar fits a lot of people and makes people-watching a little easier.
The music isn't turned up too loud, making it easy to talk. A previous reviewer pointed this out as a negative thing, but to me, it is great. I love bars where I can talk to people without having to shout.
There are some comfy couches between the outdoor patio and the bar, some of which sit in front of a cozy fireplace. Unfortunately, as a previous reviewer said, smoke drifts in from the nearby outdoor patio, and you can't really avoid breathing the second-hand smoke. This is the most annoying thing about this place. I hope they eventually close the patio doors or figure out a way to keep the smoke outside.
